Reading and Discussion with the Author Zafer Şenocak
What is so difficult about being German today?
(In German)

Following heated debates on integration and migration, Zafer Şenocak’s book "Deutschsein. Eine Aufklärungsschrift" explores how it feels to be German. He ascribes to his fellow Germans a fraught relationship to their own identity despite the event-related comfort they take in national symbolism. Şenocak sees language as playing a key role in a new self-image.

Born in 1961, Zafer Şenocak is among the most highly regarded German-Turkish writers and essayists in Germany and is published regularly in major newspapers. His novels and poems have been translated into many languages.
