Joseph Gregor (1888–1960), head of the Theater Collection at the National Library, was intimately acquainted with the Schnitzler family. After Heinrich Schnitzler's property was confiscated, he actively pursued the "allocation" of Arthur Schnitzler's library to his Theater Collection and appealed to the director-general of the National Library, Paul Heigl (1887–1945), to achieve this.
