Veiled
Exhibition in the Diaspora Garden and the W. Michael Blumenthal Academy
In vein with our exhibition Cherchez la femme, fashion students from the College for Clothing and Fashion in Berlin-Kreuzberg explored the theme of religious clothing. Which clothing rules do the monotheistic religions define and how are they interpreted and lived in the present? The exhibition Veiled grew out of this exploration. In the Diaspora Garden at the heart of the W. Michael Blumenthal Academy, the designers’ fashion interpretations and their creations as well as filmed visions of the textile and fashion designers on the theme of “Veiled – Unveiled” were on display.

The fashion statements and exhibits were diverse – artistic interpretations characterized, among other things, by the different religious biographies and personalities of the fashion designers, tailors, and students of the welcome and vocational preparation classes.
The designs were presented and photographed with the f16 College for Photographic Studies – self-portraits capture the presence of these young people, also expressed in glances and poses.
The cooperation between the College for Clothing and Fashion with the Jewish Museum Berlin and the f/16 College for Photographic Studies was sponsored as part of the Berlin cultural program for creative schools in Berlin.
