Milonga Argentina. A Tango Evening in the Glass Courtyard
As part of the surrounding program to the current special exhibition "Jewish Life in Argentina" the Glass Courtyard will be transformed into a tango hall for the evening. The Berlin quartet Vibratanghissimo is guest for the evening. Typical for tango nuevo, the group combines various musical styles: soulful tango variations on the viola, enthralling jazz improvisations on the vibraphone, and astonishing double bass solos to music by Astor Piazzolla, Horacio Salgán und Oli Bott.
A highlight of the evening is the performance by the Argentinian tango couple Germán Cassano and Liliana Espinosa. Under their professional direction, beginners can take their first steps while experts polish their technique and dance their way through the night under the glass heaven to the sounds of DJ Andreas von Maxen.
A cooperation with the "Organisationskomitee für die Teilnahme Argentiniens an der Frankfurter Buchmesse 2010" (Committee for Argentina's appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Argentinian Foreign Office) and the Embassy of the Republic of Argentina.

What is it Like to be a Jew? - Herr Kreisler? Herr Polak?
Panel Discussion with Georg Kreisler and Oliver Polak
Moderated by: Shelly Kupferberg
Celebrated cabaret artist and writer of operas and novels meets hip stand-up comedian – two men from different generations who, at first glance, could hardly be more different. Here the brilliant composer of the anti-idyll, there the "Panda from Papenburg" in a hoody. But charm and innocence can be deceptive. Both like to be the enigmatic "enfant terrible": One of them for decades – from provocative lyrics such as "Come on, let's go and poison pigeons in the park" to subtle observations of time in opera form. The other plays the "Jew game" where the audience has to guess who are Jewish celebrities and who "normal."
A cooperation with the Jewish Culture Days in Berlin and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
When: Monday 30 August at 7 pm
Where: Glass Courtyard, ground level
Admission free
