Hey you! Flirting without Sexism

Workshop for students with drama-pedagogical elements on the exhibition (3 hours)

The workshop addresses flirting as a special form of making contact on the threshold of sexuality to approach the topics raised by the exhibition in an age-appropriate and sensitive way. These include the tension between traditional, religiously informed role behaviors on the one hand and the diversity expressed in our present-day liberal society on the other, as well as sexism and topics like consensus and maturity.

The three-hour workshop includes a guided tour of the exhibition and incorporates a variety of pedagogical methods. Drinks and snacks will be provided; however, we recommend that students also bring a small snack with them.

Note: Some students may find individual depictions objectionable. Such reactions should serve as opportunities for discussion in the workshop.

Duty and Pleasure

The current exhibition Sex: Jewish Attitudes explores different perceptions of sexuality in Judaism, from the central importance of marriage and procreation through desire, taboos and the questioning of social norms to the eroticism of spirituality.
The workshop, which follows a visit to the exhibition, will address the tension between traditional role behaviors and the diversity of sexual life and gender identity, and will also question the relationship between gender, sex and status.
