"Desperate First Ladies": Pieter-Dirk Uys’ New Show
Press Invitation
Press Release, Tue 1 Feb 2011
Pieter-Dirk Uys is South Africa’s best-known satirist and since the 1970s one of the harshest critics of political grievances there. He has earned world acclaim with his character Evita Bezuidenhout. His new program "Desperate First Ladies" is showing at the Jewish Museum Berlin to which we warmly invite you on 20 Feb at 4pm.
Inspired by the president of his country, Jacob Zuma, with three "First Ladies" at this side, Uys presents in a revue such varied personalities as Angela Merkel, Hillary Clinton, Grace Mugabe, and Mutter Theresa. Of course, this list of iconic women would not be complete without Evita Bezuidenhout, in whom Uys created South Africa’s most prominent white woman.
