EVZ Conversations Meets JMB! The Russian War Against Ukraine. Consequences for the Politics of Memory
Conversation with the German Minister of State for Culture and Media, Claudia Roth, Dr. Andrea Despot, Dr. Anatolii Podolskyi and Floriane Azoulay (in German and Ukrainian)
Since the end of February 2022, Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law. In the shadows of the acute humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine, another threat is looming: a profound instrumentalization of history. Certainties of memory culture are increasingly being called into question.
What does the war in Ukraine mean for German, Jewish and Ukrainian memory cultures? Which reflexes – like for example the deflection of guilt and the relativization of the Holocaust and Nazi injustice – can be identified in German public debate, and how can they be countered?
The event will be accompanied by the DJ Yurij Gurzhy.
