The Auschwitz Camp Working Group and 27 January in the GDR

Lecture by Alexander Walther with music by Jalda Rebling (in German)

27 January marks the anniver­sary of the Red Army’s liberation of the Auschwitz concen­tration camp in 1945. Just before this day of comme­moration, historian Alexander Walther will give a lecture hosted by the Jewish Museum Berlin, with a musical perfor­mance by Chasan Jalda Rebling.

Alexander Walther will speak on the comme­moration of 27 January in the GDR and the role of the camp working groups within the “Committee of Anti-Fascist Resis­tance Fighters”.

Jalda Rebling initiated and led the Days of Yiddish Culture, a project of the UNESCO World Decade for Cultural Develop­ment, which took place on 27 January from 1987 to 1997.
