Halle and Hanau as a Watershed

Consequences and Perspectives Five Years After the Attacks

9 October 2024 marks the fifth anniversary of the Halle synagogue shooting. The racist attack in Hanau was also nearly five years ago. The two acts of violence took place within a matter of months and, for many people, represent a decisive turning point to this very day. Although a judicial and political process took place in both cases, without the tireless efforts of civic initiatives, co-plaintiffs and journalists, many questions would have remained unanswered. Five years after the attacks, lawyers, journalists and artists talk about their observations and the current state of the debate.
