Conversation with the Artist Thomas Struth

Program surrounding the Exhibition This Place (video recording available, in German)

The inside-out@thisplace series explores the process of creating a collective photography exhibition and presents the perspectives of the photographers involved. It is about the view from outside and inside, about narratives, about familiar pictorial worlds and the courage to question them.

German photographer Thomas Struth approaches the region with his large-format color photographs taken in Tel Aviv, the Golan Heights, Ramallah, and Nazareth. In his search for universal themes, he came up with a range of subjects such as technology and family, landscape and architecture for which he is known.

The conversation was initiated by Theresia Ziehe, curator of photography at the Jewish Museum Berlin.
