On Life – Working with People Traumatized by the Shoah
Panel Discussion Marking 25 Years of AMCHA in Germany (video recording available, in German)
Seventy years have passed since the Shoah survivors were set free. Their liberation saved them from death, but was not salvation for their lives – the traumatization still shapes their lives today.
War, genocide, and mass violence are political and social occurrences that shake whole societies and affect individuals. Help for survivors is of central importance. However, trauma discourse often does not reflect the specific needs and challenges of working with the severely traumatized.

Moderated by Daniel Friedrich Sturm (Die Welt)
